Maple Leafs Sign John-Michael Liles To Four-Year Extension

NHL

The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed defenseman John-Michael Liles to a four-year extension according to the Maple Leafs’ official site.

“Not gonna lie…it’s been a pretty good day,” Liles tweeted once reports of the deal surfaced.

The deal will be worth $15.5 million over four years, according to the Toronto Star.  Through 34 games played this season, Liles has four goals, 17 assists for 21 points.

In 2011, the Leafs acquired Liles from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a second-round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.  In 557 career NHL games with Toronto and Colorado, Liles has totaled 296 points (72 goals, 224 assists).
