Retired manager Tony La Russa will manage the National League All-Star team, according to a tweet by Major League Baseball.

Traditionally, the manager that won the previous season’s league championship is invited to manage that league’s team during the All-Star Game.  La Russa made the decision to retire following the St. Louis Cardinals 2011 World Series championship, however he will make one last appearance in uniform to manage the National League All-Stars.

In 33 years as an MLB manager, La Russa posted a career 2728-2365 record between his work with the Chicago White Sox, Oakland Athletics, and St. Louis Cardinals.
