Schottenheimer had recently served as the New York Jets offensive coordinator before he was reportedly asked to resign this offseason. He was quickly replaced by former Miami Dolphins head coach Tony Sporano. The Jets’ offense struggled in 2011 under Schottenheimer and quarterback Mark Sanchez. The team finished 8-8 on the year, missing out on the playoffs for the first time during the Rex Ryan era in New York.
Williams has served as the defensive coordinator for the New Orleans Saints since 2009. Best known for his blitz-formations, he has served as the defensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars, Washington Redskins, and Tennessee Titans. He was also the head coach for the Buffalo Bills from 2001-2003.
