The Nationals acquired Gonzalez via trade from the Oakland Athletics for prospects A.J. Cole, Derek Norris, Brad Peacock, and Tom Milone.
Gonzalez, 26, has collected 15-or-more wins in two consecutive seasons with the Athletics while posting an ERA of 3.23 or lower each season. The young hurler was one of the most desired trade pieces in baseball this winter. He is expected to sit atop the Nationals rotation alongside Stephen Strasburg and Jordan Zimmermann.
