Report: Cowboys’ backup QB Jon Kitna to retire





Quarterback Jon Kitna has informed the Dallas Cowboys that he plans to retire, according to ESPNDallas.com. Kitna played in just three games in 2011, and he was placed on injured reserve in December with a bad back.
Kitna, 39, played a significant role for the Cowboys last season after Tony Romo was injured, throwing for more than 2,000 yards and 16 touchdowns.
After beginning his career with the Seattle Seahawks and later played for the Cincinnati Bengals, where he won Comeback Player of the Year in 2003.
