Hermann Trophy winner, Andrew Wenger, was the first player picked in the MLS super draft today, and will play for the Montreal Impact.
The Impact believe that Wenger is the most well rounded prospect in the draft pool, and will look to play him as a center back or defensive midfielder.
“I can’t wait to get going. It’s an honor,” Wenger said, according to the league’s official site, “There’s a lot of potential in Montreal and I’m happy to be a part of it.”
Wenger 21, was named ACC Defensive Player of the Year in 2010, and was named both national player of the year and ACC Offensive Player of the Year this past season at Duke. He started 63 games for the Blue Devil’s scoring 21 goals and had 13 assists.
