The Oakland Raiders have fired head coach Hue Jackson, according to a tweet from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Raiders began the season 7-4 after a strong start out of the gate. The club made several major acquisitions, including quarterback Carson Palmer and linebacker Aarron Curry, in an attempt to make a playoff push. However the team ultimately finished the season with an  8-8 record after an injury to star running back Darren McFadden halted the team’s offense.

Jackson was in his first year as the Raiders head coach after having previously served as the team’s offensive coordinator in 2010 under Tom Cable.

This season was Jackson’s first experience as a head coach at any level. With his firing, he joins the unenviable list of NFL coaches who were let go after just their first year on the job.
