Report: Floyd Mayweather Plans To Plead “Guilty” To Reduced Misdemeanor Charges
Floyd Mayweather reportedly plans to plead guilty Wednesday to reduced misdemeanor charges in a plea deal regarding allegations that the 34-year-old boxing legend battered his ex-girlfriend, USA Today reports.
In the plea deal, the original felony charges are reduced to misdemeanor charges. During the September 2010 incident in question, Mayweather was accused of hitting and threatening his ex-girlfriend and then threatening two of their children (at the time, 10 and 9 years old). The argument occurred because the boxer believed the woman was dating another man.
Mayweather faces $3,000 in fines and could be sentenced to anywhere between two days to 18 months in jail after pleading guilty to one count of battery domestic violence and two harassment charges. It is believed that he will not be sentenced to major jail time.
The plea deal also includes an agreement for Mayweather to plead “no contest” to misdemeanor battery charges and to pay a $1,000 fine in connection with a previous incident in November 2010 outside of Mayweather’s multi-million dollar Las Vegas home. In the incident, Mayweather allegedly got into a heated argument with homeowner association security guards regarding parking tickets on his bevy of expensive vehicles outside of his home.
