Report: Penn State QB Matt McGloin Knocked Out In Post-Practice Fight

The beleaguered Penn State football program suffered another black eye today when junior quarterback Matt McGloin was “knocked out” by one of his own wide receivers, according to a series of tweets from Nate Bauer of Rivals.com.

I'm being told after today's practice, Matt McGloin and Curtis Drake got into an old-fashioned, heated, 'altercation'.

McGloin was part of a largely ineffective quarterback rotation with Rob Bolden through the 2011 season, and completed just 54.1% of his passes for 1,571 yards.  Drake was also not a tremendous part of the offense, catching just 5 passes for 102 yards in limited action; Drake missed the entire 2010 season with a twice-fractured tibia.

According to Ben Jones of StateCollege.com, a full team meeting has been called for 4:30 p.m. ET, and kicker Anthony Fera confirms that the fight took place.

Bauer reports that the fight was large enough to cause a scene, and that police were called as a result.  Bauer’s source indicates that the fight had its roots in practice-field chatter, but that Drake’s attempts to patch things up after the fact led to the fisticuffs.
