Chicago Cubs, LHP Paul Maholm Involved in Negotiations

The Chicago Cubs and left-handed pitcher Paul Maholm are discussing a deal that would bring the veteran starter to Chicago, ESPNChicago.com is reporting.
Maholm, 29, has spent his entire seven-year career with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He became a free agent after the 2011 season, when he went 6-14 for the 72-90 Pirates.
Though his win-loss record was less than impressive, Maholm posted a 3.66 ERA and he ranks 16th among active pitchers in home runs allowed per game over his career.
