Dallas Cowboys Place Jon Kitna On The IR

The Dallas Cowboys have placed veteran quarterback Jon Kitna on the injured reserve with a back injury, according to a tweet from Adam Schefter of ESPN.com.

Kitna, 39, has played 15 season the NFL for four different teams. Last season, playing in reserve for an injured Tony Romo, Kitna helped the Cowboys go 4-5 in a nine game span while passing for 16 touchdowns and posting a 88.9 quarterback rating.

Kitna’s best season came in 2003 when he started 16 games for the Cincinnati Bengals, helping lead them to an 8-8 record. The then 31-year-old quarterback threw for a career-high 26 touchdowns while passing for 3591 yards.

In 141 career games, Kitna posted a 77.4 quarterback rating while throwing for 169 touchdowns and 165 interceptions.
