Penn State has contacted Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham about its coaching vacancy, according to CBS Sports. According to the report, Whittingham still has interest in the Arizona State opening.
Whittingham, 52, has been the head coach at Utah since 2005, when Urban Meyer left to become the head coach at the University of Florida. Whittingham has a 65-25 record as a head coach and is 6-1 in bowl games. He was named the AFCA Coach of the Year in 2008.
Penn State has been looking for a new head coach since legendary coach Joe Paterno was fired during the Jerry Sandusky scandal. According to ESPN, interim head coach Tom Bradley will be in charge until the Nittany Lions’ bowl game.
