Report: Russell Okung Has Torn Pectoral Muscle, Out For Season

NFL

Seattle Seahawks 2010 first-round draft choice Russell Okung has a torn pectoral muscle and is likely out for the year, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Okung was injured in the final two minutes of Seattle’s win over the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night, on a play where the whistle had already blown, and after the game had been all but decided.  Schefter reports that the injury would carry approximately six months of rehab.

The Seahawks selected Okung with the sixth overall pick in the 2010 NFL draft and expected him to be an immediate contributor, but he was hampered by high ankle sprains starting in preseason of his rookie year and ultimately missed all of 6 games and part of 2 more.  Okung had bounced back in 2011 and had impressed the coaching staff; Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch has rushed for 854 yards, eighth-most in the NFL to this point.
