Report: Texas A&M to Fire Head Coach Mike Sherman
Texas A&M has decided to fire head football coach Mike Sherman, according to the Austin American Statesman’s Kirk Bohls. The school has not yet notified Sherman, a source told Bohls.
According to Bohls, the school will owe Sherman between $3 million and $5 million. Sherman, who did not sign a contract extension with the school, has gone 25-25 during his tenure.
Sherman served as the head coach of the Green Bay Packers from 2000-05, but he wasn’t able to achieve the success at A&M which many people had expected after a solid season in 2010. After returning several starters, Texas A&M entered the season No. 8 in the Associated Press top 25, but finished an unimpressive 6-6.
