NHL

The National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today that it fined Pittsburgh Penguins forward James Neal $2,500 for high-sticking Montreal Canadiens defenseman P.K. Subban Saturday night.

A minor penalty was assessed on the play that occurred in the third period.

The fine is the maximum allowed under the current NHL collective bargaining agreement and will go toward the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

The Penguins would go on to win the game in overtime 4-3.
