Andy Murray Loses to David Ferrer in Opening Round of ATP World Tour Finals

Andy Murray was defeated by David Ferrer in straight sets in the opening round of the ATP World Tour Finals, BBC Sports reports. Murray was a 17-1 favorite.

Murray, tennis’ world No. 3, required treatment for a groin injury after losing the first set. Ferrer was able to defeat Murray 6-4 and 7-5 in the next two sets to win in a two hour match in London, where Murray resides.

Murray finished the match with a whopping 44 unforced errors. In each of his five previous meetings with Ferrer, Murray had emerged victorious.

In a pre-tournament press conference, Murray mentioned he was nursing a few injuries.
