Floyd Mayweather’s Adviser Hints At Pacquiao Fight May 5
Floyd Mayweather reportedly wants to fight Manny Pacquiao May 5 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, according to his adviser Leonard Ellerbe who told the news to ESPN.com.
Though the opponent has not been determined, Ellerbe hinted at a bout with Pacquiao and told ESPN.com:
“We’re looking to make the biggest fight possible and everyone knows what that fight is, the little fella.”
“Floyd made it very clear that he wants to give the fans the biggest fights that are out there. He wants to stay active,” Ellerbe said. “We’re going to do everything in our power to make the biggest fight out there for the fans and we all know what the fight is.”
Despite the obvious draw and the major potential pay day for both fighters, the top two pound-for-pound boxers in the world have never faced off against one another due to failed negotiations over drug testing protocol.
Mayweather won his most recent match Sept. 17, knocking out Victor Ortiz, allowing him to remain undefeated in his professional career.
Pacquaio is the favorite in his upcoming match with Juan Manuel Marquez. The bout, slated for Nov. 12 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, is Pacquaio’s third bout with Marquez.
