Sean Avery Placed on Re-Entry Waivers

Uncategorized

The New York Rangers have placed forward Sean Avery on re-entry waivers, according to ESPN New York. This move could signal the return of the 31-year-old NHL star to the Rangers lineup.

The Rangers must wait until noon on Tuesday to see if Avery clears waivers. He went unclaimed when he was placed on waivers earlier this month before the Rangers stint opening the season overseas in Sweden. At the time, Avery told ESPN New York he doubted he would ever wear a Rangers uniform again.

The move comes as the Rangers are struggling on ice with a 3-3-3 record and suffered a loss in their long awaited home opener at the newly renovated Madison Square Garden this past Thursday.

The controversial agitator and fan favorite had been playing for the club’s AHL team in Hartford. In his two minor league appearances this season Avery performed well, posting a game-winning goal in a shootout and a game sealing empty net goal.
